Full Itinerary
This morning, our local tour guide and driver will meet you at Nagasaki port and transfer you to the white-walled Shimabara Castle constructed in the time of Edo and considered as the shelter of a feudal lord. Despite being destroyed heavily in the Meiji Period, the buildings are well reconstructed from 1964. We can learn more about the development of this castle while strolling around its walls, moat, and breathtaking terrace gardens. You can enjoy the panoramic view from 5th-floor observation of Mount Unzen and the water to Kumamoto.
We will have a nice Japanese meal for lunch before walking down the Samurai district nearby. The district is at the bottom of volcanic Mount Unzen which is the residence of legendary Samurai warriors aiming to serve the local lord.
After that, we will spend time visiting Mizunashi Honjin – Mud Flood Park, located at one of the affected sites of the eruption of Mt. Unzen. The park is regarded as a reminder to later generations of heavy destruction by the disaster. Trip ends when the driver takes you back to the port for your departure.
