Welcomed by our local guide and driver at Tokyo port, start this shore excursion by a visit to Kotokuin Temple and see the Great Buddha Daibutsu. Constructed in the 12th century, this colossal statue is undoubtedly the highlight of Kotokuin Temple. It was completely cast in bronze with a height of 13.35 meters including the base (about 33 feet) and a weight of approximately 850 tonnes. Seated in the meditative position, this is the second highest bronze Buddha statue in Japan and this is the only statue of Buddha in Kamakura designated as a national treasure.

Next, move to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu - the most important shrine in Kamakura. Being built in 1063 by Minamoto Yoriyoshi and dedicated to Hachiman, the god of Minamoto family, also regarded as the god of war, this shrine creates a unique and different in the atmosphere compared to other Zen temples.

Leave the shrine to take a leisurely walk along the streets in Komachi-Dori which offer numerous options of shopping, amazing coffee shops, long-established restaurants and shops in which you can seek for local products as souvenirs before back to the port. Trip ends.
