Meet & Depart from the Port (Osaka or Kobe)
Upon arrival, meet your friendly English-speaking guide at the cruise terminal and begin your journey to Kyoto by private, air-conditioned vehicle. The scenic transfer sets the tone for a meaningful day ahead.
First stop: Nijo-jo Castle or Arashiyama
First stop depends on your ship: most shared departures start at Nijo-jo Castle, while Diamond Princess guests start with the Arashiyama area.
- Nijo-jo Castle (most departures). The former residence of the Tokugawa shoguns, with wooden corridors famous for “nightingale floors” that chirp when stepped on, painted sliding doors (fusuma) and carefully kept gardens.
- Arashiyama area (Diamond Princess guests). A walk through the bamboo grove, with the history of a Heian-era leisure retreat for nobles. An optional stroll by Togetsukyo Bridge and nearby temples if time allows.
Visit Kinkaku-ji Temple (The Golden Pavilion)

Explore Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine
Continue to Fushimi Inari, the world-renowned shrine famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates lining the hillside paths. The main shrine grounds and the first section of the torii gates can be reached via ramps and an elevator, but the mountain path is steep with many stairs.
