Full Itinerary

Upon arrival at the port, we start your Okinawa shore excursion to the first hotspot – Shuri Castle or called Shurijo which is one of the UNESCO World Heritages. The castle was used for the administrative center and the home of Ryukyu kings for centuries. Regardless of destruction from war, the current buildings are well reconstructed with various gates such as the famous Shureimon Gate. You can enjoy the majestic view of Naha at the top of the castle.

An interesting fact is that another World Heritage Site – Tamaudun Mausoleum is in Shuri Castle, which is “heritage inside heritage”. We will start to discover the Okinawan burial tradition of large stone tombs specially designed in grand style to exalt the royal family. You will be amazed by the stunning ancient space.

Have lunch before we take a 10-minute stroll along the downhill path from Shuri Castle to reach Kinjo-cho Stone Pavement that is known as the “100th best roads in Japan”, designated as a cultural property. The path gives a scenic atmosphere of the old Ryukyu dynasty and is home of 300-year-old Akagi Tree.

Next, we move to Shikinaen Garden built to entertain Royal Guests is known as the second residence of the Ryukyu kings. You will have a look at the combination of a Japanese style and a unique Okinawan one. Take your eyes to enjoy the beauty of architecture in wooden palace buildings especially by red tile roofs as well as lovely flora. Already visit the best choices of spots, have a relaxed time by strolling along Tsuboya pottery street for freely shopping. The trip ends at a favorable time when the driver drops you back to Naha port for your next shore excursion.
